MENU Frequently Asked Questions

MINI Knishes are 'bite size' round knishes (cocktail size) usually served or passed around at Weddings, Bar-Mitzvahs, Affairs, Dinner Parties, Super Bowl Events, etc. they are about 1 oz. each. The mini potato knishes are all potato (with spices, seasonings, onions, etc.). The spinach, kasha and broccoli mini knishes are mixed with a little of that same potato as a binder to keep the vegetables together and also adding a little creaminess to the great taste.

JUNIOR Knishes are Large Coney Island Square Knishes (Approx 5 oz. each).
Did we say Juniors are Large? Yes! and then our Large must be Jumbo! Why? The actual reasons for the size names were lost somewhere in our company's history over the last 90 years. I believe that way back then, our knishes (only one size then) were larger than all the competition's knishes, hence the name "Large". When we made a slightly smaller version of it, it became the "Junior".
PS The Juniors are exactly the same as the Large (Jumbo), except they are slightly smaller.

Note: The LARGE (Jumbo) knishes are NOT sold on the Internet and not usually sold in packages. They are sold commercially in bulk and shipped in refrigerated or freezer trucks to our commercial clients.

LARGE Latkes (Round Pancakes) are approximately 4 oz. each, twice the size of most competitors (and MUCH better!) hence the name "Large"

JUMBO Latkes (Pancakes) are approximately 6 oz each,hence the name "Jumbo"

JUMBO Blintzes are approximately 4 oz. each, twice the size of most competitors (and MUCH better!) hence the name "Jumbo".

Our STOREFRONT uses a Shopping Cart (just like a supermarket) to hold all your items while you shop. You may ADD or REMOVE any item you wish at anytime
or as many times as you want. You may also EMPTY or CANCEL your Shopping Cart at any time.

Shipping options and exact charges are provided DIRECTLY to you by UPS (the lowest priced major shipper). Shipping Charges are determined by the TOTAL WEIGHT of the items in your shopping cart, NOT the COST, also your ADDRESS and DELIVERY TYPE. Charges are shown at CHECKOUT before you place your order or enter a credit card.

[SHIPPING: TO MULTIPLE ADDRESSES] Sorry, it is NOT an option. Each order has a $50 MINIMUM and can only be shipped to a single address. The Shipping containers and Cryo-Gel Ice Packs we have to use for PERISHABLE FOODS over LONG DISTANCES, cost us quite a bit. We lose money on orders under $50. The reality of splitting up an order and sending it to multiple addresses are: Multiple boxes, Multiple sets of Gel-Packs and Added shipping charges, would easily bankrupt us! We hope you understand.

[SHIPPING: PRODUCTS] Our products are shipped at an optimal shipping temperature based on the travel distance, the product mix and outside weather conditions. You may store your order in the refrigerator for 10-12 days from the time you receive it or you may store them in the freezer for up to 1 year. Freezing does not harm our products in any way. It does not change the flavor, texture or taste. If frozen, DO NOT DEFROST, go directly to oven.

[SHIPPING: PACKAGING] Most of our product are packaged in retail style formfitting clear plastic containers that you would normally find in many
bakeries and retail stores; Twin Pack, 6-Pack, 18-Pack 54-Pack, 90-Pack, etc. (Each piece is NOT individually wrapped within the container). Some products, such as soufflés and puddings are packaged in "oven-safe" or aluminum trays. Then, they are all labeled and Shrink-Wrapped. Finally, we package your order using our new High-Tech shipping containers with (Food Safe) CRYO-GEL Ice Packs; keeping your PERISHABLE order at an optimal shipping temperature for up to 3 DAYS during their journey to you.

[SHIPPING LABELS] We package our products under the following labels: Gabila's, Gabila's Knishes, Grandma Seiden's, King's Gourmet, and King David. We also use "paper labels" for products that are usually only sold in Bulk, but their shipping containers have been greatly downsized so that you may enjoy these products as well. These items are NOT retail labeled or packaged for retail sales.

[BULK PURCHASES] Many bulk items are available in the Internet Store at already DISCOUNTED PRICES, such as Cocktail Knishes in 100-300-500 Packs. Potato Pancakes in 2-4-6 Dozen Packs, Our new "Shredded" Pancakes (Latkes) in 30-60-90 Packs. Eggrolls in 50-100-250 Packs and Knishes of course in 54 and 90 Packs.

[DRY ICE] Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, but Dry Ice is not suitable for
our products. It works well with meat, fish, ice cream and other mostly protein items. Dry Ice is just too cold for most products (197 degrees below zero Fahrenheit) and will harm or "burn" them (including your fingers!) Dry Ice evaporates in one day requiring Shipping by Overnight or Next day Air. It is
hard to store and expensive; requires special commercial freezers to store it
and even then only lasts for 2-3 days. We discovered that our CRYO-Gel Ice Packs works best for our products.

The longer we have them, the shorter the shelf life. For that reason, we try to maintain a very small in-house inventory.
